Slow Cooker Beef

This slow cooker beef recipe makes this so easy, so delicious and really cost effective. You can do the same in a pressure cooker too.

Serve with steamed green veges, a mash using sweet potato, potato and pumpkin or oven bake
some veges in the oven!

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 onion
  • 2-6 cloves garlic (to taste)
  • 1kg stewing steak, diced large
  • 1 large carrot, diced small
  • 2 stalks celery, diced small
  • 300ml cheap red wine
  • 1 tsp brown or coconut sugar
  • 1/3 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp sweet soy sauce
  • equiv. 1 cup of liquid stock
  • 1 tsp mixed herbs
  • Salt & pepper to taste

METHOD

Sauté onion in olive oil until soft.
Add garlic, beef, salt and pepper and cook until meat is just cooked through.
Add wine and cook for 2 mins, then add Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce and sugar.
Add diced carrot and celery and stock.
Cook in the pressure cooker for an hour or the slow cooker for 5-10 hrs.
